Hi.
Since I founded this group 10 months ago, it has grown beyond my expectations. We have 118 members, 128 watchers and a gallery full of diverse art covering many different styles, from pencil sketches to 3D renders.
One of our shows, Caprica, is leaving us forever, but a new one is in preparation. Will SyFy ever recreate that BSG awesomeness they gave us before? We will see.
In the meantime, I would like to ask you, fellow members and fans, if anyone would be interested in becoming an administrator or a contributor. I would like to achieve two things:
- Sort out the gallery. I would like to create more folders to separate the different artistic styles, or perhaps create character folders or any other kind of sorting system that would put some order into the gallery. I feel like simply separating the submissions by TV show is not enough, especially for Galactica, which has the most art.
- Start a regular discussion on the blog. I am looking for people who would like to post news about cats members and creators, review old episodes or post any other related material to make it more lively here.
Would you say these are good or bad ideas? Would you be willing to participate?
Also, I was wondering if we are up for a competition or art exchange? If you have ideas or if you could offer prizes, or if you have anything to say at all, please comment.

bloody chrome casting and concept art
The latest BSG prequel series BSG: Blood & Chrome has new actors. Those of you hoping young William Adama would be played by the same guy from Razor will be deeply disappointed. Luke Pasqualino http://www.imdb.com/name/nm3297698/ has been cast as Husker. Ben Cotton http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0970805/, the Caprica alumn who also had a cameo in Razor, will also star in the new show.

Concept art http://www.movieweb.com/news/battlestar-galactica-blood-and-chrome-concept-art is looking good, except for the ice planet - is that some weird alien monster? Plea
Caprica no more UPDATE
I hear there is an apple-sending campaign going on to save Caprica from cancellation. Anyone here participated?
Blood and Chrome: I doubt Vipers are made of chr
SyFy is doing another Battlestar Galactica prequel. BSG: Blood and Chrome will air sometime in the winter 2011/2012 and it will follow William "Husker" Adama as a Viper pilot. If you haven't heard about it yet, you can read more about the project here http://io9.com/5670990/bad-news-for-caprica-syfy-making-another-bsg-prequel
I seriously doubt this will work because it is bound to suffer the prequel doom: we already know how the story ends. Not only do we already know that Adama was a pilot in the first war and then he was on a civilian ship and then returned back to the fleet and served on two Battlestars etc etc, but we have SEEN it all as
Caprica is back (with a bang?)
Caprica returned to the small screens this week with an all new episode.
Does anyone still watch the show? I really wanted to like it. I tried to like. But the new episode only cofirmed my suspicion that while the acting and direction are very good, the show lacks focus, any really interesting storyline, action, and thus also better writers. There's only something like seven episodes left, so I might finish it out of loyalty to Ron Moore and co. but if the show gets renewed by some miracle, I most likely won't continue watching.
Thoughts?

Ok, first of all I know this journal is more than an year old, but I have just joined the group and I'm reading through everything. So here we go.
All of the ideas you have pointed out are very good, in my opinion. The gallery does need a better and deeper organization than the current series only categorization. I agree that each series should have sub-categories allocated to them and most likely they should be various genres of art. We don't need to re-invent the wheel here.
There should most certainly be community engagement past submitting deviations and suggesting favs. A community bonds and evolves through communicating and sharing. Regular journals buckled up with polls that provoke discussions are a definite must. Optional events like contests and giveaways are a bit harder for organization, but they are excellent way to entertain the community, further involve it and more importantly motivate it.
I realize that I have just joined and maybe I am crossing the line here, but I would be glad to participate in the implementation of those ideas you talk about and others as well. I have substantial experience with such things being that I have been a Global Moderator on a site with more than 45,000 users and I'd love to the something like this again.
Well, that's all I have to say, honestly.
Cheers and thanks for making this group.
